What you’ll do
Are you a truly business-minded individual with an interest in customers and cars? Do you want to reach the corporate targets and your personal goals together with other people? Then Strategy and Program Management (S&PM) within Engineering & Operations (E&O) is the place for you to prosper. Here, you will be a key contributor to our future strategic direction and the prerequisites for next generation of desired products from Volvo. You are part of a global team working with new and current product matters – from early strategic work, throughout the lifecycle to the end of life of the products.
We are now looking for a Vehicle Product Lead.
Program Management within S&PM owns the car programs and secures that our product offer is optimal over time, and stays in demand, by strategic product updates. We have the end-to-end responsibility for the carlines. The Vehicle Product Lead works closely with the Business Program Manager.
The Vehicle Product Lead owns, manages, and maintains global product offer for a specific carline, in this case the model years of all the cars based on the future platforms. Responsible of balancing product content recommendations to vehicle programs business meetings and other relevant fora for given program. Besides creating and keeping our products desirable and competitive, we also seize and analyze business opportunities in general linked to our car products. We live and breathe cross-functional. Interaction with other departments and organizations is vital and everyday work.
Your key tasks
You are the go-to person regarding the content of the product. You are not the technical expert per se, but you have technical understanding, and build network all cross the company to translate the experts’ words guiding to our best cross-functional decisions that needs to be communicated to a wider audience. You ensure that the future product is in line with customer needs and is both competitive and profitable.
• You make sure that our products get better over time
• You create and document the product offer, balance attributes, strategies, product cost, investment, time, revenue, and desired offer structure
• You have a tight dialogue with the commercial side of our company including our markets securing that the product offer is always kept up to date
• You lead the official sign of process of the product and offer, sign off the vehicle main dimensions and official data
• You lead product meetings for the specific products
• You love to present the product and the offer to wider audiences on stage
What you’ll bring
You like taking your own initiative and ensuring ownership, still being a good collaborator. You are curious, structured, and persuasive. You have a good business understanding, competitors’ knowledge, and customer focus. You are analytical and work to make things better, which you do by promoting innovation. Advanced communication skills and knowledge of how to communicate with a range of roles, from technical experts to pure marketing people. You build trust by transparency and respectfulness. You like to keep things simple and take out the essence in things and swiftly move between an overall perspective and a more detailed focus. You will be expected to nurture and expand your network within Volvo Cars, quickly learn how the Product Development System works and how business is made. Cross-functional experience is a requirement, and you are a true collaborator!
You combine a university degree with experience from development work in a complex industry, project management and agile ways of working knowledge. Good leadership skills and good presentation and writing skills, especially in English is essential.
