Lots of safety systems contribute, already today, to decrease fatalities and to mitigate injuries when accidents occur. However, new vehicle regulations continuously strengthen requirements on our products to increase their safety. We are looking for a regulation specialist who feels comfortable interacting externally with rule makers/stakeholders, to monitor and influence vehicle safety regulation development.

Your future team
The Product Regulation team is an inclusive team with 6 different nationalities, working on 4 different sites, and connecting with a global network.
What you will do
You will work with regulatory agencies in EU (mainly EU Commission) or in UN (WP29 and subgroups in the United Nations) to influence the development of vehicle safety regulations. To do so, you will, internally, lead and maintain networks to prepare and to anchor the Volvo’ positions. You will act as a Volvo representative within Manufacturers Associations. You will work with our competitors to build consensus positions, in respect of the Competition Law Compliance (CLC). And you will secure our Volvo’s position is well reflected in the industry position. You will promote this industry position to the Members States and other key stakeholders.
You will also have a key responsibility to communicate, internally about the future regulatory development and potential associated risks, and to support Volvo compliance activities.
Who are you?
You have a strong background / experience in the Automotive Regulations area, and in their developments in the EU and in Geneva (UN/WP29). You are familiar with the EU General Safety Regulation (GSR) and the Framework regulation, and you have experience in this area as a regulation specialist.
As a member of a global Network you are expected to have an open multi-brand and multi-cultural mindset, to be a network builder, a good team-worker, to be business and customer oriented and to demonstrate courage and integrity.
We believe you are creative and have the mindset to constantly learn and progress. We are expecting that your personality and desire will allow to drive and influence the regulation development in a challenging domain. You should also have a “can do” attitude and take pride in your work.
Working in a global environment, you have excellent verbal and written English skills. You have as well negotiation skills and experience of finding compromise (in English). You have good communication skills and an impressive capacity to analyze/summarize texts to focus on key issues.
Other qualifications needed:
• Bsc/Msc in mechanical or electrical engineering, material or mobility engineering
• At least 3 years’ experience in regulation development in the Automotive Safety area in EU or UN/WP29,
• Experience with Automotive business,
• Collaborative and able to cultivate trustful relationships and networks across organizations (internal – external)
• Well-developed ability to efficiently formulate and present future regulatory challenges to different set of stakeholders.
• Fluent English, both written and oral. Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Engineering
