Box Dragon is a new PC game development studio founded by game dev veterans from Riot Games and Stunlock Studios. We’re located in Gothenburg and backed by Coffee Stain. Our team has over 30 years combined game dev experience and each member of our team comes from a different background.
We each bring something unique to the table and we have a passion for sharing stories. We make games around the idea of novel fun for our players; we craft emergent experiences in stylized worlds supported by system-driven gameplay. As the VFX artist at Box Dragon, you’ll be our specialist for bringing flair to our gameplay experience. You’re someone who excels at expressivity in VFX and passionate about creating a range of diverse effects, from the smallest spark to the biggest boom. You will be working closely with our Game Director and art team to create stylized effects that align with our gameplay and our game’s dark and painterly world.
We’re a small team, so you will have the opportunity to express yourself in your work and hone your craft by working on a wide variety of challenges.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Art Director to define a vision for visual effects
Create visual effect assets from concept to implementation in order to enhance environments, characters, and combat
Collaborate with team members to ensure that assets abide to requirements in regards to performance, best practices, and art style
Collaborate with engineers & technical artists to implement vision of visual effects in cases where new technical solutions must be developed
Requirements
Experience working in a gamedev environment
Experience working with Unreal Engine
Excellent ability to analyze and break down complex visual effects into constituent parts
Comprehensive understanding of technical considerations for VFX including experience with 3D DCCs such as Blender, Max, Maya
A willingness to challenge yourself and find solutions to challenges
Solid understanding of shader, material and texture creation
