Vibration engineer for Fortum's balancing system and field

Vibration engineer for Fortum's balancing system and field

Arbetsbeskrivning

Fortum eNext Turbine and Generator Services (TGS) owns and operates Northern Europe's only independent facility for high-speed balancing of generator rotors. Now we want to strengthen our team in Västerås with a vibration engineer for our high-speed balancing, as well as field balancing on site.

With us, you become part of a company with a clear environmental profile and one of the leading electricity and heat producers globally. Here in Västerås we work with service and modernization of turbo generators, synchronous compensators, and rotary inverters for the railway network. Out in the field, we measure and analyze vibrations throughout the turbine and generator shaft line.

About the role In the role as balancing engineer, you will conduct balancing of rotors at our balancing facility in Västerås, especially generator rotors. We have two facilities, one for rotors weighing 2-30 tons and one for rotors weighing 30-110 tons. The balancing work consists of measuring vibration, calculating and applying balancing weights for different rotor types. As we run mainly 2-pole rotors, operating above 1st critical speed, this means multi-plane and multi-speed balancing. For the calculations, we have tailor-made balancing programs and results are checked against international standards and possible customer requirements. Since generator rotors are complex and can have individual / distinctive characteristics, a high analytical ability and good ability in problem solving are required. You will also be responsible for planning and coordinating the balancing assignments and ensuring that schedules are adhered to.

Another part of the role is to perform balancing and other vibration analysis in the field. This will be executed at our customers facilities. This means that travelling can occur mainly within the Nordic region. Therefore, you need to master both Swedish and English, in speech and writing. Since we work closely with our Finnish colleagues, knowledge of Finnish can be a plus. You will also participate in the development of Turbine and Generator Services products and participate in our process improvement projects.

We offer you As an employee with us, you will be part of an organization working in a cutting-edge industry. Fortum is one of the leading energy companies in the Nordic region with a clear focus on environmental responsibility.

Here, we value your ideas and give you encouragement and space to find new and creative solutions to develop Fortum and personally. You will work in an international environment and participate in many exciting meetings with companies in the energy sector.

Fortum is a results-oriented company that offers challenges and responsibilities. Our work environment is characterized by warmth and mutual respect, we have a strong team spirit and work together to achieve common goals. Fortum TGS is available in several locations in Finland and Sweden. In Västerås you find us at Finnslätten where offices, workshops and balancing facilities are located.

About you To succeed in the role, we believe that you are a college graduate engineer with a few years of experience. In order to succeed you should have a basic technical understanding, be able to read technical descriptions and designs. It is important that you are analytical as well as being interested in understanding different technical solutions. If you have experience with high-voltage rotating machines, this is a big plus. If you also have experience in vibration analysis, rotor dynamics or vibration measurements, we find you highly interesting.

Location: Västerås.
