Vice President Digital Transformation Powertrain

Vice President Digital Transformation Powertrain

Arbetsbeskrivning

Vice President Digital Transformation Powertrain
Powertrain Engineering (PE) is a global organization of more than 1 700 highly skilled employees. Our mission is to develop future products and world-class services in propulsion systems for commercial vehicles with a heavy focus on trucks and busses. More specifically we develop sustainable combustion solutions (engines, transmissions, and axles) as well as fuel cell systems and other key systems for electric propulsion (transmissions and axles).

Mission
To develop the future products in an efficient and effective manner we need to have the best people, the best tools as well as the best development process. The R&D process can be greatly improved by embracing digitalization and achieve a digital transformation. We have coined the term of “Digital Transformation” as an umbrella for a large set of areas where we see a need to improve. Some of the areas included are:
Simulation and virtual test methods
Develop products that produce wanted data from the field (customer vehicles)
Manage data from virtual and physical tests as well as from the field
Improve existing products and develop new products using all available data
Develop services based on available data

Another way to express it is that we want to be front edge in virtual product and service development. We also want to be excellent in monitoring existing products and make sure that we diagnose and improve using high-frequency data.

Main role & responsibilities
Currently the areas connected to “Digital Transformation” are addressed in a too uncoordinated and unstructured way between sites and functions in PE. The choice to recruit a highly qualified global professional for the area has been made. The VP Digital Transformation will be a part of the global PE management team and report to the head of PE. The initial intention is that the VP will not have any own direct reports and instead lead the areas described above through dotted lines. Some of the necessary qualifications are:
Extensive experience of R&D in the automotive area
Proven record as a leader preferably in a global organization
Technical expertise in digital methods as well as data analytics
Strong collaborative mindset
MSc or PhD in relevant area

The location for this role is flexible, but frequent travelling will be required, and it must be possible to spend at least 50% of the time in Sweden.
