Arbetsbeskrivning
For Sandvik Machining Solutions, we’re now looking for a Vice President of Strategy and Business Development – a networking and transparent leader, who combines a strategic mindset with a strong drive to make things happen. You’ll lead and execute our overall strategic agenda, as we manage sound industry analysis and successful business development. Welcome to a truly global role with an exciting cross functional scope, right in the center of our dynamic business!
We have an exciting portfolio that holds some of the strongest brands in the market, and as a leading supplier in the global cutting tool industry, we’re proud to serve our customers with products and solutions for optimized productivity and profitability. In 2019, Sandvik Machining Solutions had around 18 000 employees and a total revenue of 41 billion SEK. If you’re as passionate as we are when it comes to development, strategic business drivers and people involvement, then you’re the one we need for this position!
Your mission
In this central and visible role, you’re responsible for setting our multi-brand business strategy, and for shaping development plans and driving successful execution of strategic initiatives, projects and partnerships throughout the entire organization. You do this by insights, target identification, business model analysis, forecast evaluation and well-prepared recommendations for decision-making. Included in your mission is strategically expanding our offer, managing and implementing M&As and identifying other opportunities for investments and growth. You also ensure a strong performance management of our strategic agenda. Your objective is clear, as you make sure to always provide us with the best possible foundation for achieving great results, and you confidently challenge us when you think it’s necessary.
Your input is gathered by active collaboration and broad networks, and you frequently keep one ear to ground, look at new perspectives and bring all aspects to the table. This means working closely together with our President, CFO and Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions, as well as managing our stakeholders and the many different interfaces that comes with your mission. Offering strategic advice and growth development directions to our divisions and their presidents is another truly important part of your job, and not to forget, building bridges with the Strategy and Business Development community within the rest of the Sandvik Group. You also perform deep market and industry analysis to ensure valuable information on trends and movements that may affect our business, and you guide us when we need to adapt to a changing landscape.
On top of this, you provide a clear, inclusive and mentoring leadership to our organization and your own team of competent professionals. You report directly to the President of Sandvik Machining Solutions, and are a valued member of our management team. The location for this position is flexible within Europe, though the role requires considerable presence in Stockholm, Sweden. As we’re a global business, extensive travel is also required.
Your background and character
For this mission, we need someone with a relevant academic degree and extensive experience from similar strategic and managerial roles within a global corporate business or from a management consultant firm. You’re comfortable and capable in interacting with high level executives and multiple stakeholders, and you have strong skills in planning, execution and business development. An understanding of the metal cutting industry – and preferably also our multi-brand product portfolio – is highly valuable, and you’re eager to learn about our market, and the opportunities and challenges we’re facing. Experiences from M&As are beneficial. We operate worldwide, and this calls for an open mind and cultural awareness – you’re used to collaborating cross both functions and borders and you need excellent communication skills in English.
A strategic mind, strong analytical abilities and structured ways of working are of course necessary for this position, and this makes it easy for you to prioritize, question, decide, move forward and establish change. But more importantly, we believe that you have a transparent and credible approach, as you aim to create powerful strategies based on numerous insights. You’re a truly networking and collaborative person – someone who puts the spotlight on agility, open communication, strong relations and inclusive team work. Add a passion for development and an ambitious drive to reach results, and you’re the one we’re looking for!
