Vice Principal – IB-International BaccalaureateSSHL is a school that is unique in the Swedish context and has very high ambitions. However, with this comes significant challenge.  At SSHL, we look to provide all our students with the best possible opportunity for success, where their individual needs will be supported and they will be able to fulfil their academic ambitions. We are now looking for a new Vice Principal to support help us to meet this challenge and assume the responsibility for the International Baccalaureate (IB) section of the school.SSHL offers a unique blend of Swedish and international culture, high academic competence and excellent student care. As well as offering the Swedish national programmes, SSHL offers two IB programs, the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Program. The school is built on underlying humanistic values, characterised by the recognition of the equal value of all people, caring for those most vulnerable, a tolerance for dissent and a home for those who struggle against all forms of oppression and discrimination.We are looking for a Vice Principal who will work 100% and be wholly responsible for the IB programmes within the school. The position will also include responsibility for helping developing the wider school and pedagogical activities. In addition to this, the successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership of around thirty teachers, as well as including budgeting and work environment responsibilities. You will work in a leadership team with the Director/Principal/CEO and the two other academic Vice Principals as well as having a close cooperation with the boarding and administrative managers.We are looking for an educational leader who has the capacity to create energy, be inspirational and be committed to the task of creating a school for the future. You should be confident and clear in your own leadership abilities and within yourself more broadly. You must have excellent collaborative skills and be capable of creating good relationships with your colleagues. Communication skills are vital and you should have very good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. Applicants must have an academic degree which is relevant to the nature of the position. It is vital that you have experience working within the IB and very advantageous if you have completed Principal’s training and have a teacher qualification. It is also beneficial if you have worked in a genuinely international environment before.It is assumed that you will have personal qualities that are reflective of a position of this nature. You will be confident and capable of handling stressful situations as well as being flexible and structured. You must be able to develop and maintain relationships with people and be very service minded. You will thrive with the responsibility that you have and be solution oriented, with clear vision and have the ability to plan and prioritize your work. Furthermore, you should be able to work closely with the leadership team to make decisions that will affect the whole school. Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period and the deadline for applications is 15th August.
