Background and organization


Volvo GTO in Köping is looking for our next materials engineer within heat treatment. In our pursuit of becoming the best transmission factory in the world, we need world class employees. You will be part of a production engineering team of approximately ten skilled production engineers at different levels within Surface & Heat treatment. We are the Center of Excellence within Surface & Heat Treatment and our area of responsibility is to prepare and industrialize new components, materials and processes, maintain existing components and installed furnace and heat treatment processes. We are also responsible for technical support and continuous improvement within pro-active assurance of our heat treatment processes. An extensive part of your work will be in project form, were you can be assigned different roles within the project. We look forward in meeting our next talented materials engineer within heat treatment.


Main areas of responsibility


As a materials engineer within heat treatment, you will be:
Our local expert within furnace technology and heat treatment processes in.
Quality Assurance (heat treatment process, materials properties, analytic methods)
Product development and Industrial projects
Giving support within your area within Volvo GTO (R&D, Supply, QA, Production)
Responsible for coordinating improvement activities together with cross-functional teams.
Develop our heat treatment methods and processes.
Conduct educating training courses.
Leading projects and activities.
Global monitoring in heat treatment technology development.


Personal profile and qualifications


For this position, following qualifications and skills are required:
Academic degree within the area of material science and heat treatment technology & engineering.
Proven knowledge of heat & surface treatment of steel and alloys
Proven experience from laboratory work and quality assurance.
Project Management experience
Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in Swedish and English
Knowledge of machining and assembly is meritorious
A strong technical interest, combining theory and reality with a holistic view
A curious and driving personality.
