Seasonal Jobs in Northern Germany in hotels, restaurants (service, kitchen, housekeeping) and in tourism sector from April/May to September/October 2021

The summer jobs are:
-on the North Sea islands Föhr, Sylt, Helgoland and Amrum
-on the island Fehmarn in the Baltic Sea
- in small towns or villages at the shore of both Baltic and North Sea

-on the islands of Rugia, Usedom, Fischland-Darss-Zingst and Hiddensee

Requirements:

-German skills: The level depending on the task, for instance in kitchen and cleaning fair (A2) German skills would be enough, for guest services (waiter/waitress, sellers for food, souvenirs, ice-cream etc.) B-level is expected.
-Minimum age: 18 years
-Available time: at least 8 weeks
-Some job experience an advantage

Peculiarities of Seasonal Work:
-Shifts are the rule, also at weekends
-40-48 working hours / week
-Fitness! You'll run around a lot during shift
-Stress! Especially on sunny weekends, when many day tourists arrive
-Tip is quite common in Germany, through good service you can increase your salary substantially

Minimum wage: 9.50 ? gross (until June)/ 9.60 ? (from July) gross per hour
-Many companies pay more
-Taxes and Social Insurances are deducted from gross salary (around 35%) - as student with a health insurance covering also the time you are working in Germany, you will have only few deductions.
-Companies offer accommodation, most of them for reasonable payment
-Many companies offer food during the shifts, sometimes for payment, sometimes for free
-Some employers refund the travel expenses or a part of it at the end of the contract

Note that applicants for these seasonal jobs should be EU/EEA citizens, because of German law.

Concerning the COVID-19 pandemic:
The planning of this project is subject to future developments of the Corona crises. The labour market is quite unpredictable and so are the travel restrictions and quarantine regulations. Therefore, recruitment and information sessions may have to take place online. Individual interviews can be arranged through telephone or video telephony. Upon entering German territory, a negative Corona test or a quarantine period may be obligatory. The employer is responsible for the necessary quarantine arrangements (private accommodation, food) immediately after arrival of the candidate.
