The School of Health and Welfare, part of Jönköping University, is looking for a Full Professor in Occupational Therapy to support and further develop education and research within Occupational Therapy and our transdisciplinary research environments.
The position offered is full time and with 50 percent research time.

Who are we?
The School of Health and Welfare (HHJ) is one of four schools within Jönköping University and one of the leading institutions in Sweden for academic studies in health, nursing and social work. We work transdisciplinary with a focus on practical application of knowledge. The Department of Rehabilitation (AFR) at HHJ provides newly revised bachelor level programmes in Occupational Therapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics. Our one-year master´s programme in Occupational Therapy has been running for more than 15 years and is taught in Swedish.
In 2015, we started an international web-based one-year master’s programme in Occupational Therapy, and since 2017 we offer a two-year international master’s programme in Occupational therapy, taught in English. Additionally, a brand new international master´s program in Product development with a specialization in Assistive Technology (MASTech) focusing on Prosthetics & Orthotics starts this autumn.
AFR also offers numerous commissioned educations, as well as our vocational training programmes (YH); Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician and Pedorthist. We are constantly developing our programmes. In addition, international exchange, both abroad and at home and involving both educators and students, is an important and always expanding aspect of our department.
What would you do?
With us, you will lead the development of occupational therapy and occupational science research, together with AFRs Head of internationalisation and research, as well as the lecturers and associate professors at AFR. This includes providing mentorship, strengthening, and supporting junior researchers within both AFR and HHJ´s research environments. Here you will conduct your own research within relevant transdisciplinary research environments at HHJ and initiate applications for external funding of research. Quality assurance and development is a part of your role and responsibility.
As the Head of Subject in Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science, you are expected to keep up to date with national and international developments within the discipline. You are responsible for the content and development of occupational therapy and occupational science as a discipline, in accordance with Jönköping University´s rules and regulations for education. As a Full Professor you will be expected to participate in, and support, the development of teaching at all academic levels, as well as supervising doctoral students. This entails a shared responsibility for continuous quality assurance and development of education with programme directors and our Head of department as well as the Educational director and the Research director at the School of Health and Welfare.
Who are you?
To qualify as a Full Professor, you must have a research profile of good international standard with a clear progression following your dissertation, in terms of both width and depth in the subject area. You should also demonstrate teaching expertise, through pedagogical development work, and/or course development. Also important is that you have a great ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in an efficient and relevant way.
Further, to be eligible for the position the candidate should:
- have a Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy or a related subject. This is required in order to maintain our degree awarding rights in Occupational Therapy.
- be a registered Occupational Therapist.
- have a relevant and up-to-date scientific portfolio of high-quality publications in Occupational Therapy or related subjects.
In addition, extra meritorious are the following experiences:
- examination committee assignments.
- expert in evaluation of assignments.
Knowledge in both spoken and written English is required, while knowledge in Swedish is highly desirable. Note: Individuals who do not have Swedish language skills will be expected to obtain this knowledge in close connection to starting the position.
