Your role
As the Grants Controller, you will be the link between the finance team and the program financing team. You will support the teams in carrying out and further developing the work on budgeting and financial follow-up of programs funded by our largest donors (institutional, foundations, and companies), both in Sweden and within the WaterAid federation.
Your responsibilities include:
Financial control and analysis of budgets and reports for our grants.
Contacts with donors and partner organizations on issues related to budget, financial reporting, and auditing.
Project audits.
Guidance in the preparation of project applications.
Advice on contract development.
Advice on internal control and contract compliance.
Development, implementation, and training of routines, policies, and instructions aimed at streamlining operations.
Financial analysis of the total portfolio of grants from institutional donors and foundations.
Contributing to discussions within the global federation on how we work with contract compliance and quality assurance.
Qualifications and personal qualities
Academic degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience working as a controller with project monitoring and reporting.
Experience working in an international organization with a focus on development cooperation.
Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English.
Good knowledge of financial management systems and Excel.
Analytical, precise, and structured.
Ability to see both details and a big picture perspective.
Curious, development-oriented, and a creative problem solver.
Used to working in a structured and independent way.
Cooperative and accustomed to communicating with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Additionally, it is meritorious if you have:
Experience from the non-profit sector or related activities.
Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish.
Worked with grants from institutional donors and foundations.
Conditions regarding the position
The position is full-time with access according to agreement. Probationary employment for 6 months, with subsequent permanent employment. WaterAid Sweden has a collective agreement. You will report directly to the Director of Finance and Administration.
We have a generous hybrid policy aimed at creating a sustainable balance between work and leisure, and it is therefore possible to work both at our office in Solna and from home.
