We are looking for a System Engineer responsible for various components in the Wheels & Tyres group. The main focus is on the wheels, normally aluminum wheels from European or Chinese suppliers. You will work closely together with a team of persons from Sweden, China, Hungary, India, etc.

As a System Engineer, you are working with the development of components and systems within the Wheels & Tyres area, one of CEVT’s module teams. You will develop requirements, concepts and system solutions and you will drive the work towards suppliers in our sourcing process according to requirements. You are the spider in the web making sure all functions deliver according to all requirements and that parts are delivered for all prototype builds and J1, normally in Chinese factories.

This is what you will do most of the time:

- Supplier contacts with Global and local Chinese suppliers, with weekly meetings.
- Balance styling proposals against technical requirements and supplier processability.
- Lead a cross-functional team for your components with Attribute team, Product Planning, Geely Design, Purchase, Supplier Quality Assurance, Volvo Cars & CEVT Testing and Suppliers.
- Drives the component development towards suppliers that meets e.g. design, functional, environmental, mechanical, cost, weight, quality, and system safety requirements.
- Provide technical expertise
- Lead the component development from concept to launch.
- Work closely with purchasing department and our suppliers to find cost-effective solutions that meet the project time plan and specifications.

For this role, we are looking for someone with the ability to work independently as well as an excellent capability to collaborate and cooperate with others. You need to have a positive attitude and be interested in finding solutions together with others. Another critical attribute for this role is to be willing to help others as well as ask for help when needed. You need to have the ability to work in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams. Cultural awareness, especially Asian - European culture, is also very important for this role.

Suitable background and experience

- Minimum B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience from Automotive Development
- Relevant experience from the development of systems and components for automotive use
- Experience in project management and great management capabilities
- Knowledge in Catia V5
- Knowledge in Team Center
- Driver’s License Type B
