This role will be responsible for developing, in conjunction with the customer, the approach to the development, optimisation and management of mass, inertia and centre of gravity properties for the air vehicle within the integrated product development environment.

This role requires extensive experience of early lifecycle mass development and control aspects of air vehicle/platform design and optimisation within a multi-disciplinary airframe development environment and will require the capability to set and approve mass, centre of gravity and inertia properties and targets for all aspects of the platform structure and equipment.
*Plan, estimate and control weights engineering tasks for programme activities within span of control.
*Approve weights analyses, approve mass and inertia properties and targets and carry weights approval for design drawings/models.
*Support the programme Principal Structures Engineer in dialogue with the relevant company and airworthiness authorities assist in the development of routes to airworthiness for mass, balance and inertia related matters
*Deploy and govern weights engineering methods, processes and data for programme activities within agreed span of control
*Lead and manage the Weights team allocated within agreed span of control, deploying mandated people processes as necessary
*Provide a leadership contribution to the management and development of the Weights engineering toolset and processes within the Structures discipline
