We are looking for a Cost Engineering Expert in Interior and Climate area!

What will you do?

The Cost Engineering Department is now looking for a Cost Engineer for Interior and Climate area to the Interior & Exterior team. 
The Cost Engineering department is a strategic function within procurement supporting Procurement, Research & Development, and Finance. Cost engineering serves to provide the organization with expert competence regarding fact-based cost analysis. 
The department has extensive experience and skills within all different types of components building up a car (plastic, metal, and electronics) where the base is production methods used to produce the parts. We use calculation software and knowledge domains as support to calculate costs for both parts and tools. You will work closely with the buyers, Research & Development teams, and with our suppliers in your work to estimate the optimal cost. The role gives the possibility to deep-dive into new technology and the advanced components in vehicles, which are in a dynamic phase where new functions are designed into future cars.
Your main responsibilities include the strive to make sure that Volvo Car Group always gets value for money when purchasing parts, by estimating the right cost level (Bill of Material, Manufacturing Process, and Tooling) and supporting negotiation with the buyer. Another important task is to support engineering with cost estimates to support design decisions for future products and changes. You contribute to strategic business plans, teardowns, and cost workshops with your expertise.
The position includes some international traveling to suppliers’ manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective.

Do you fit the profile?

You have a university degree in Technical University and at least five to ten years of relevant working experience within the Manufacturing or Tooling Industry. 
Proven knowledge from the manufacturing, tooling, machining or equipment industry within one or several of the following areas: Machining, Injection molding, Assembly, or Automation. 
Deep knowledge and experience in state-of-the-art Manufacturing Technologies for Automotive Interior area or Climate components and systems are of great interest. 
Experience of cost calculations is meritorious. 
Moreover, you are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
