We are looking for a new colleague to join our team in Uppsala Sweden as a Wind & Site Engineer.
There are currently about 260 of us who work at Nordex in the Nordic countries, about 130 of us are in Finland, 100 in Sweden and almost 30 in Norway. We are growing fast!
Our Wind & Site Engineers are making sure that our customers get the best production while keeping highest safety requirements for turbines in their wind farms. Together with our Sales and Engineering teams we optimize wind farms based on the site data and latest techniques, following the requirements of our customers.
Main responsibilities in the role:
Analyze and interpret site specific wind and climate data
Perform Wind Resource Assessments to assess the wind and site conditions, according to Nordex standards
Analyze constraints for every specific site, and support our customers and sales team in proposing the best possible turbine type, layout to get the best energy yield output; considering the project constraints (hub height, rotor diameter, shadow, noise, etc.)
Calculate the impact of the site specific conditions into our wind turbines and evaluate their structural integrity with modern software tools
Combine technical requirements, practical limitations and financial opportunities into an optimized site layout
Identify risks and opportunities in early phase and develop adequate mitigation measures
Perform Production Assessments including curtailments
Prepare Site Assessment and other reports and explain these to our customers and Sales Managers/Engineers
Implement and support corporate processes and tools and develop locally required processes / tools in cooperation with the central function
Report achievements, risks and challenges on regular basis
Analyze and challenge (if necessary) external reports
Analyze (if necessary) performance of operating wind farms and apply learnings to future analyses
Occasional discussions and negotiations with Customers/developers and external consultants
Ensure active involvement of corporate Health, Safety & Environmental
Irregular travel within the country and abroad is part of the job


Your profile:
University degree in Engineering/Physics/Meteorology or equivalent
You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar position
You have an interest in renewable energy in general, and wind energy in particular
You have an understanding of the cycle of wind projects and the wind industry
Competence in wind flow modelling and you are advanced in using relevant software such as WindPro, WAsP or other comparable software. Experience with CFD codes (e.g. Meteodyn) is an advantage
You are able to work at the level of the industry’s best practice, and have an eagerness to learn and expand the team’s knowledge and capabilities
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets
Self-driven and process-oriented working style, with sufficient flexibility to cover the unforeseen
Specific knowledge on cold climate calculations are beneficial
Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
Ability to deal and work with other cultures and technical areas hand in hand to find the best solutions
Good English communication skills, speaking and writing


The position is based in our Uppsala office with some traveling is involved, anyway less than 10% on annual bases.
