We are looking for a Wind Noise Engineer with testing experience and aeroacoustics background to join the Wind Noise Team within R&D at our Personal Centre at Volvo Cars.

The Wind Noise Team is part of Personal Centre within Research & Development at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg. The Personal Centre supports the strategic direction of “Freedom to move in a Personal, Sustainable & Safe way” and we support all vehicle programs, both in terms of customer and legal requirements regarding our attributes Driving Dynamics and Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH).
You will get the opportunity to be involved in all project phases, from Advanced Engineering to production start, and with field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve our attributes in our cars. You will get a varying role where you work with both testing in our Wind tunnel and external facilities, as well as CAE Simulation. This is an opportunity to contribute to creating the world’s most inspired and confident driving experience.
We can offer state-of-the-art equipment and test facilities and the opportunity to build an extensive network with other internal design areas, suppliers, and our development center in Shanghai.
What you’ll do
As Wind Noise Engineer, you will support the delivery of Wind Noise attribute through a combination of testing, CAE and engineering judgement. You will perform Full-Size Clay model and Complete Vehicle testing during concept and prototype verification phases, as well as support Greenhouse Wind Noise simulations. You will process and analyze data to recommend necessary design changes to meet requirements. Some of your responsibilities will be to lead assignments dependent on your experience and knowledge.
You and your skills
We see that you have a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, technical acoustics, engineering physics or similar and that you have a solid understanding of Acoustics and Aeroacoustics. You have proven experience with data acquisition and DSP (Digital Signal Processing). Background or interest in developing CAE skills is a plus.
Understanding to appreciate the importance of Wind Noise in the overall refinement of Electric and Autonomous Vehicles will be highly valued in this role. Beneficial is also academic projects and research in the field of Aeroacoustics as well as knowledge of design principles of critical Wind Noise systems (Body, Closures, Sealing systems and Styling).
On a personal level, you are an outspoken and brave person known for your ability to synthesize data, transforming complex analysis into simple and effective recommendations. You are customer-focused and result-oriented with a sense of timing. You possess good interpersonal and communication skills and are comfortable to present and discuss results at different fora and levels. You are a Team player with a sense of accountability, also comfortable working independently.
