It is an expert team with deliverables developed through advanced engineering and research projects.

The team focuses on multiple wireless communication technologies such as LTE & 5G, Wi-Fi, V2X, Bluetooth LE & UWB. Team members are responsible for designing and verifying the wireless communication technologies through requirements, simulations and measurements. Close collaboration with other teams and suppliers (Tier1-3) is required to make sure that the wireless technologies are implemented according to Volvo Cars standards.

We now need one additional colleague with LTE and 5G knowledge to strengthen our commitment to enable world class wireless technologies. You need to understand, update and improve existing base technology specifications & requirements. This role also holds the responsibility to follow and communicate with standardization bodies & suppliers (semiconductor industry) and develop roadmaps.

You will support (“cellular expert”) towards the implementation organization, which uses wireless technologies as a base for their applications and perform proof of concepts.

As a natural part to complement the requirement development you will be involved actively in the development of wireless test methods (LTE/5G etc.), on both system and component level.

You and your skills
To be successful in this role we see that you have long experience of development and/or testing of wireless technologies (LTE, 5G-NR etc.). Your academic background is B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Computer, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Physics with special subject/interest in wireless communications or RF & Microwave.

You have documented knowledge in RF technology, communication protocols, LTE/5G signaling, TCP/IP communication, Linux OS and HW/SW integration in ECU.

You have experience in modem/ECU design of cellular systems as well as from Software Defined Radio (SDR). You are familiar with Systems integration and testing methodologies.

You are skilled in troubleshooting and tuning of component hardware, software, network, and communications protocol problems.

You back up your practical experience with a strong theoretical background in Wireless Networks.

As for your personality qualities, you are a result driven and team-oriented person with a growth mindset. You are self-driven and curious by nature and finding the best working practices is core in everything you do. You are happy to share your best practices and equally happy to learn from others.
