Overview
As a World Designer you help create the physical space where the players experience the game. The role is extremely versatile and a wide range of techniques and experiences are required. Due to the versatile and cross-disciplinary nature of the World Designer they need to work extremely close with other crafts and have great communication and collaboration skills.
As a World Designer at Embark we value multiple years of previous experience within game development, with a deep understanding of traditional level design, creating layouts, working with terrain, bridge art and design and create fun and natural looking gameplay spaces. Knowledge and interest within geology, urban planning, geography, architecture, color and shape theory and other relevant fields is also highly valued.
Example of responsibilities
- Planning and creating a scalable open world game environment
- Working with the terrain and the objects that populate it, both large and small scale
- Working close with other crafts such as combat, animation, environment art and design to translate concepts into a final experience
We would love if you have
- Passion for and experience with high quality hands-on game building
- Experience from AAA live service games and/or F2P
- Advocacy for the player's experience and their creative involvement
- Enjoyment of creative collaboration - eager to design and share with others
- Familiarity with coding practice, art pipelines, or sophisticated systems design
- 10+ years of level/world design work across multiple types of games
