Can you really reach out to the whole world, while working in a tranquil idyll in the middle of nowhere? In Älmhult you can. Älmhult, Sweden is home to IKEA Communications AB, aka ICOM. ICOM produces IKEA.com, which is visited around 1.6 billion times a year. We're also behind the IKEA catalogue with a yearly circulation of around 220 million copies. On top of that, we churn out a ton of content for social media, not to mention motion media and 3D work so cutting edge that it makes the folks in California sit up and take notice. So what happens in Älmhult definitely doesn't stay in Älmhult. It reaches practically every corner of the globe.
Right now we're looking for wordsmiths. People who understand the power of the word and the power of the web. People who know their English backwards, forwards and upside down. (Well, forwards at least) People who understand when words are necessary and when they're not. And how to tailor their writing to different digital media.
The Business Area Digital at IKEA Communications carries out all projects involving global digital communication at IKEA. Our mission is to create and produce excellent communication that positions IKEA as a strong, unique and meaningful brand.
As Writer you will work in a creative core team consisting of a Writer, Art Director, Digital designer and an Interior Designer. As a part of the assignment you will be responsible for:
-Writing and editing text in ways that appeals to the target audience in accordance to the IKEA tone of voice.
-Securing the delivered content from a SEO perspective.
-Collaborating closely with digital production leader and digital designer in the assignment.
-Contributing with ideas in text to copywriter or creative director that will enhance quality of produced work.
-Collaborating closely with Editor, production leader and digital designer in the web assignment.
To be successful in the role, we think you have:
-Education or working experience in communication, creative writing, design or equivalent, in an international setting.
-Excellent writing and editing skills from a wide stylistic perspective according to the IKEA tone of voice.
-Comprehensive knowledge of the English language, its grammar, punctuation and spelling, both written and oral.
-The ability to both write and edit texts that are clear, simple and concise, and specifically adapted for digital media with customer and SEO perspective in mind.
-The ability to write texts based on given keywords, and to visualize ideas, brainstorm and ultimately write copy that is compelling, fresh and attention grabbing.
-Experience working parallel with multiple campaigns and projects, preferably for international clients.
-Excellent time management and organizational skills, and the abilty to adapt to changing assignor prerequisites, project scope and/or dimensions.
