The Oatly Way
We are the world’s original and largest oat drink company. For over 25 years, we have exclusively focused on developing expertise around oats: a global power crop with inherent properties suited for sustainability and human health. Our commitment to oats has resulted in core technical advancements that enabled us to unlock the breadth of the dairy portfolio, including alternatives to milks, ice cream, yogurt, cooking creams, and spreads. Headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, the Oatly brand is available in more than 20 countries globally.
Why work with Oatly?
Guess what! Our Engineering department is growing, and it needs your WWTP Engineering expertise to ensure our delicious oat milk is produced as environmentally conscious as possible at our Landskrona site.
The sustainability revolution isn’t going to happen by itself, we need all the help we can get. So, if making the world a more sustainable place and trying to avert climate catastrophe is the kind of thing that gets you up in the morning, then read on!
Here’s what you would do,
As an WWTP Manager in our Landskrona Engineering team, you
will be focusing on developing and continuously improving our newly commissioned wastewater treatment plant at site, with the ultimate goal to produce as efficient as possible with minimum environmental impact.
This is an excellent chance for an experienced WWTP professional from the process industry to help us help the planet!
Here’s what the role involves,
As our WWTP Manager, you’ll mostly be focusing on…
- To lead the wastewater treatment function and processes at site
- To plan and manage the wastewater process optimization facilitating efficient, best practice and safe manufacturing operations across the site.
- Manage technology and operations of our Wastewater Treatment Plant to improve sustainability, reliability, and cost by:
o Responding to operations issues as they occur and eliminate root cause
o Applying TPM for our WWTP and utilities related to the process
o Driving technical support to external partners, managing service agreements with partners for reliable operation 24/7
o Collaborating with Head of Environment to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (environmental permit)
o Developing SOP’s and operating manuals, train personnel on implementing best practice for processing our wastewater and other waste/rest products from our manufacturing process
o Building our inhouse capabilities to be able to operate WWTP ourselves in the future
o Identifying, justifying, and implementing applicable projects on the plant
o Drive continuous improvement projects (internally and together with external expertise)
o Partner with stakeholders to ensure all requirements from all perspectives are met and adhered to for successful execution
but also:
- To work collaboratively with Global and EMEA Engineering team and within the technical teams on site.
- To support the function strategically and operationally, continuously improving and developing processes, procedures, and data management.
This is the job today - but who knows what tomorrow
brings? Oatly is still growing and so being comfortable with change will really help you grow in the role.
Does this sound like you?
Here’s the kind of experience, qualities and approach that we’re looking for at Oatly:
You’re probably M.Sc or B.Sc. in Engineering (Chemical, biochemical or environmental) paired with at least 5-10 years’ relevant experience of wastewater treatment technology, preferably from the industry.
Or, you might also have acquired the right skills and background from your solid experience within Wastewater Treatment. Your competency and knowledge are more in focus than your educational background!
Key skills:
Previous experience of testing, commissioning, validation, and start-up of wastewater technology
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with a holistic perspective (see Get in the Game)
Solution-oriented: identifying issues, suggesting and implementing solutions
Good influencing and communicative skills, interacting with and lead a diverse group, including managers, technicians, operators and subject matter experts, internally and externally.
Very good verbal and written communication skills in English, and Swedish
Project Management skills, preferably with a certification
You are a self-starter who does not need direct supervision to motivate you for success - we believe strongly in building a culture of individual accountability and ownership and need partners that can embrace that mentality.
You feel connected to our Guiding Principles, especially these two:
Get in the game
Thinking about the big picture, rather than the job description bullet points, and prioritizing doing things for real rather than creating a perfect plan that never sees the light of day (even it is a very pretty plan).
Embrace the unknown
An enthusiasm for adapting to an ever-changing environment. The only thing that is constant is change. As some wise people plus a whole lotta Instagram post have said, so you know it’s true.
Your Application
We welcome people from all backgrounds that think sustainability, health and transparency are mega important. So send in that CV, cross your fingers and whisper a little prayer to the powers that be. It will be fun, or at least a good time. Promise!
