At the British International School of Stockholm, Year 1 learning is child-centred and grounded in play-based approaches. Learning happens both indoors and outdoors in all weathers, including weekly Forest School sessions at the nearby Altorp forest. We are looking to appoint an experienced Early Years or Year 1 teacher who is committed to, and will help us to further develop this approach.
Applicants should:
● be a fully qualified teacher (UK BEd/BA QTS or PGCE with relevant degree, or hold the equivalent recognised teaching qualifications from other countries)
● hold Qualified Teacher Status, or the equivalent
● be a fluent English speaker
● be learning focused
The successful candidates will also:
● have proven experience of teaching and learning in Early Years or Year 1
● have the ability to demonstrate and willingness to share outstanding practice
● utilise play-based approaches to learning both indoors and outdoors
● demonstrate creative and enthusiastic approaches both in and out of the classroom
● be a reflective practitioner and embrace opportunities for continuous professional learning
BISS uses the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) alongside the Cambridge International Curriculum, to provide high quality learning opportunities from Year 1 to Year 6.
